Global Youth Service Day
Have you ever heard about this day? Interested to go beyond this simple at the first sight title?
Than know that Global Youth Service Day (GYSD), originally launched and known as National Youth Service Day in the United States, is a coordinated annual event which gathers young people around the world in conducting community service, service learning, and youth voice activities that benefit their communities, their countries, and the world. Activities are organized in more than 100 countries each April to help mark the celebrations, and engage millions, making it the largest annual celebration of young volunteers .

Community service is performed by someone or a group of people for the benefit of the public or its institutions. Performing community service is not the same as volunteering, since it is not always performed on a voluntary basis. It may be performed for a variety of reasons:
Service-learning is an educational approach that balances formal instruction and direction with the opportunity to serve in the community in order to provide a pragmatic, progressive learning experience.
Service-learning offers students immediate opportunities to apply classroom learning to support or enhance the work of local agencies that often exist to effect positive change in the community
Youth voice refers to the distinct ideas, opinions, attitudes, knowledge, and actions of young people as a collective body. The term youth voice often groups together a diversity of perspectives and experiences, regardless of backgrounds, identities, and cultural differences. It is frequently associated with the successful application of a variety of youth development activities, including service learning, youth research, and leadership training.

Hear from young leader, and YSA Global Youth Council member, Matthew Kaplan how young people address the investigation stage of planning an impactful service project!
Let's join American Youth and organize our own project in our village this year, too.
So now,it is our turn and I suppose a duty to try our hands in making a difference for our community.
I want you to think over and chose an activity we will perform next month, precisely in April 15-22 ,to enhance the life style of our village.
There are a variety of good "deeds" we can accomplish, such as:
planting trees and flowers in the school yard,in front of the kindergarten.
digging in the old persons' gardens,
repair a wooden fence
whitewashing some of village wells,
collecting thrown plastic and glass bottles, plastic bags, candy packaging,
cleaning up around a spring...
After performing it, we will have to create a report on our activity( in any format you'll like: PPT, Utellstory, Video presentation, online magazine...).
We will share it to the world, and make it public so that others could inspire from us and launch their own campaign.
Waiting for you suggestions.
